Importing Your Car

We will attend to the relevant formalities at point of origin and arrange for the correct documents to be submitted to the authorities to allow export. loading sports car onto covered transporter

UK CUSTOM CLEARANCE

On arrival in the UK, we arrange the Customs Clearance, ensuring your vehicle is declared to HM Customs & Excise in the correct manner and with relevant taxes and duties being paid. Or in certain circumstances ensuring import tax relief is granted for the vehicle.

It is only with our many years of experience of importing vehicles that we are able to ensure that the correct procedures are followed and the appropriate taxes or reliefs are applied, eliminating any delays in clearing the vehicle.

IMPORT DUTY & VAT

The rate of import duty can vary for motor vehicles depending on their function and place of manufacture. Passenger vehicles have a different duty rate to commercial vehicles for example. VAT at 17.5 % is normally applied to all imported vehicles, based on the purchase price.

TAX RELIEF

In certain circumstances we can apply for relief from duty on the basis of the vehicles place of manufacture. Cars of a certain age or with a special history can sometimes secure tax relief. Vehicles imported as part of change of residence can be imported without paying duty or VAT. Temporary imports can also be free from taxes. The importer must however, meet with required criteria.

CORRECT DOCUMENTATION

Each imported vehicle requires a special declaration to UK Customs and must be accompanied by correct documentation. This is where our knowledge and experience are invaluable. We are always available to discuss and advise you on your import requirements in detail should you wish.

FIRST CLASS DELIVERY

Once the vehicle is cleared of customs we will arrange for the unloading of the vehicle from the container directly into our nominated warehouse where you will be able to collect it, or if you prefer we will deliver your vehicle by our first class UK & European delivery service to your doorstep on an agreed time and date. securely lashing a car into a container

CONTAINER SHIPMENT

Normally the best way for shipment of cars and vehicles is by container. The vehicle is loaded and secured to our set standards inside a steel shipping container at our designated loading warehouse. With the doors closed the steel container is completely tight and sealed from the elements. A security seal is fixed to the doors and no one will have access to the vehicle until it reaches its destination in the UK apart from the local Customs authorities, should they wish to inspect the container. We then move the container from the warehouse to the overseas export terminal where the container is loaded onto the container vessel destine for the UK. On arrival in the UK the container is moved to our local warehouse and made ready for delivery. cars loading onto a Ro Ro vessel

RO-RO SHIPMENT

Alternative to shipping the vehicle inside a container is by shipping with a RoRo (Roll on - Roll off) vessel. Shipment by RoRo vessel can offer a cost advantage over container shipments. RoRo vessels are designed solely to carry cars and vehicles and do not carry any general cargo or bulk commodities. All vehicles are secured in their respective bays and are isolated from the elements during the sea passage. All vehicles must be in a drivable condition with working brakes as they are driven on-board at the port of loading and then driven off at port of arrival.

CUSTOM CLEARANCE & REGISTRATION OVERSEAS

Before you decide to export your vehicle to any country you must ascertain what local regulations are in force and the cost to get your vehicle successfully customs cleared and registered overseas. For example in some countries the vehicle will need to have a noise and or an emission test done. You should start this process in good time before the actual date you want your vehicle to be physically shipped, as this process can take many weeks.
