While Airfreight offers a solution to time sensitive requirements, the costs are several times that of shipment by seafreight.

Specialist handling is required for any airfreight movement and this is paramount when dealing with cars.

Vehicles are received at Airline warehouse where the car is carefully loaded and secured to a specially designed airline "pallet". An airline pallet should not be confused with a "regular" wooden pallet as used in domestic transport. Airline pallets are much larger, stronger, are made from aluminium and have been specifically designed to transport vehicles within an aircraft.

Once the vehicle is loaded to the pallet. it is moved by low loader type vehicle to the aircraft. The pallet is either lifted by "scissor" lift to the aircraft loading doors, or is loaded direct via a roller bearing ramp into the hold of the aircraft. The method depends on the size of the aircraft.

When the pallet is on board the aircraft it is secured in place using the specially designed securing points on the pallet and within the aircraft to ensure a safe journey.

Handling on arrival is the reverse procedure to loading. The vehicle, on its pallet, is taken to the airline warehouse where it is carefully unloaded from the pallet awaiting collection.
